Hi Hugh you are more than welcome to bring over the mortar, I'm assuming that we will have to provide pyro's at this end. If so can you pm me with details, as I'll need to contact Graham in the sbg (He's doing the pyros for the battle). I've already passed on a detailed requirments list so he can put forward a budget, but there is I'm sure room for manouver.

2nd Guards Rifle Division

I am hoping for 30 plus so members of the 2nd Guards this is the big event of the year and your unit needs you so please make sure that you attend this show.

I will be sending out the passes etc to as many unit members as possible because we need everyone for the biggest Eastern Front battle yet!

I've just had a message from Bair that he won't be attending, as he needs to spend some family time after a very busy first half of the year. Some Russians will be coming, but they will be flying seperately this year as there weren't enough people for a coach.

Greetings Comrades!

Apologies - been ages since I last got a chance to get on to here; computer problems and life problems...

I was chatting with Ade and others at Kelmarsh, and thought that I'd better confirm that I will be at Detling but, as last year, most of my time will be spent with the Poles from Odwach. However, I will bring my LWP kit and MN and will make myself available for the battles to increase the numbers and noise level by at least one more rifle!

I will get over to the 2nd Guards camp as soon as we are set up and check on times for the battles, and will try to arrive as early before each one as I can! Don't forget that anyone from the 2nd Guards is more than welcome to come over to the Polish camp and say hello - ask Andy about Polish hospitality from last year!! :D

Tank not a problem with la Columbia persons being involved will assign them a role. Will be posting the battle plan over the next couple of weeks. senior nco's and officers should have the outline script, but after last year the more people know the better.

Hear hear Andy

Postby Bobhr on Sat Jul 26, 2008 8:14 pm

I can concur with Andy.
If you visit the Poles they are wonderful hosts.
But please remember that you must not try to move around afterwards because you fall over.... get lost... fall over again , again,... decide to find "home" and so on..
I would recommend a visit but make sure you cut back on the slivavitza !
I will certainly go again this year out of shear respect andf gratitude for theior friendship but will drink slowly and less !
are you game to come too Andy ? :?:

Don`t ask about the squirrels ......they are delicious when you put them in the slow-cooker!

I agree! Not only delicious when cooked but every one that you eat decreases the population of the disgusting squeaky little invader bastards by one!
They are, incidentally, low-fat, low-cholesterol and high protein, and casserole really well. Eat a Grey Squirrel today!

Postby Bobhr on Sun Jul 27, 2008 6:44 pm

we could team up again Andy and if we stick together and drink "sensibly" we could survive?
Besides : they we were ace hosts so we owe it to them to return.
I will bring vodka !
and soft drinks !!

There seems a lot of talk of drinking but gentleman we have a lot of work to do for this event.

Hi Tovarich Kapitan ,
On second thoughts :gestures are fine but I think I had better stay away from the Poles this time and concentrate on the job in hand.

My apologies for seeming to lead Andy astray.

PS I have found a small funnel for your hip flask and will bring it with me to Detling.

I will also bring a standard Mosin Nagant Rifle as my weapon.

I agree with Tovarich Kapitan..far too much talk of drinking. Actions speak louder than words
Seriously, I'm really looking forward to trying to remember the drill orders in Russian and running around a big field kitted up...good for the soul!
