I picked up a pair of binoculars at an event last week, the salesperson claimed they were Russian WW2. I've not found any markings that identify it as Russian, but I find it to be very simular to images I can find online.







Perhaps one of you more knowledgable comrades can enlighten me?

It appears to be working. Internal lenses appear to have been coated (a purple sheen). Turning the right eyepiece to focus at long range brings up some form of aiming recticle (for ranging? artillery?). It has the orange tainted clip-on lenses in the case. There is another small round compartment that probably held a spare lens or something, but that is gone.
The leather is starting to go stiff so I'm going to see if I can revive it somewhat with leather conditioner.

Hi , just eliminating them from what I am familiar with:
They certainly look like they are not British (the No 2 binocular used in the UK even up to the present day looks almost identical but has a magnification of 5). The 6x30 means a magnification of 6 with an object lens ( the large front ones) diameter of 30 mm.
The end-plates and Object Glass covers would be brass with a cast aluminium body.
The eyepieces are individually focussable, with the dioptre scale on the ring.
I think it is the right-hand eyepice which has an artillery-fire correction graticule of vertical straight lines.
Each line is about 1 mil thick (1 mil = 1mtre at 1000mtrs) and they vary in spacing and height to allow further distance /elevation/range judgement.
i may be able to find the tech pub wioth it in if you need it.
The case would be webbing material with a webbing neck sling and there would be no filters or strange colouring other than the
standard "blooming" which is a fine layer of optical material (purple or blue in colour) about a 1.4 wavelength of light used to reduce reflection and light-loss. This would be on the prisms internally and the lenses.
The UK binos were usually made by Kershaw or Ross.
Those pictures are excellent but are there any other markings on them?

I'll see about posting some more pictures of the markings when I get home tonight.

The artillery reticle appears like an inverted T when focusing on a distant object.
The strap of the carrying case is leather, not canvas I'm afraid.

Eliminate Finnish too. It lacks the 'SA' stamp which even civilian purchase ones tended to carry.

The logo I've found matches to a Russian one I've found in one of my books. it is an arrow reflected in a Z-pattern inside a 5-sided prism. it was covered in paint

I have an identicle case that has a Moscow makers stamp on leather and some faded Russian script on the inside of the lid,if I just new where it was I could post some pictures.

Its either German made or a copy. This stlye was made by wizse(SP?).
The case is Russian and is the same as mine. The strap seems to be a replacement.
