Is this from the new film about the battle of Rostov you mentioned?

That looks utterly suberb! People forget that the NKVD Internal Troops saw some of the fiercest fighting for cities such as Moscow, Stalingrad, Tula, and Rostov.

Indeed. A 'gromnaya poka' to all those indigenous SS Auxiliary units who realised somewhat late in the day that the all that fun they had burning up villages with their Einzatzgruppen pals would have a final day of reckoning.

DA! Comrade, they had no need of a Day in Court... just Nine Grams.

I have just been reading about some of the action around Rostov- from the point of view of an SS tanker (Nicolussi-Lec) the resistance put up by the Soviets could be described as 'determined'. The accounts by the German tankers & panzergrenadiers are fascinating- they really took a hammering. The Soviet artillery were especially effective, and it is a really good account of what it was like trying to break through a fortified Soviet line. Messy.
