Hello all
I was advised to introduce myself so here it is. My name is Allan. A teacher orginally from Canada now working in Dunstable, B  edfordshire. I have done American civil war re enactment in America and Canada but this will be my first ww2 re enactment unit. I always had a soft spot for the history of the Red Army during the war and this group sounds quite execting. I'm working on getting the uniform but can someone advise where I can find/buy/steal a pair of boots? I looking foward to the coming season and hope to make some new friends.

Looking forward to seeing you Allan.

Good luck with the kit; it all comes together in the end.

Don`t forget you have the option of ankle boots with puttees or longer "jack" boots.

Hi Allen, I think we talked at Detling (I was one of the cavalry). Good to have you on board, I was afraid we had lost you!
Second Guards have a packed calendar for the coming year and I hope we'll see you soon. In the meantime, if you need any help with your kit, just ask here.

Hello
Thanks for your warm welcome comrades. I looked again at the front of Russia and I found a pair that might meet the requirements but I would like some advice first. Before I buy. I can't seem to show the photo but here is the description...

Russian private's kirza/leather battle riding boots. Original Soviet military production. Unused. Different sizes.

I take a size 11 buy the way...
regards
Allan

Comrade,
When you buy a Gym, get one without Breast Pockets if you can... that way you will have the drop on most of us, also try not do for the synthetic Mosin Nagant Pouches that most do, if you can seek out Brown leather ones ( they are so much better).. you will thank yourself later for making that stand, and try to get an early East German Aluminium Water Bottle it is closer to the GPW Pattern than a " Modern Soviet/Russian" one... .
For the look of gear and an idea how to arrange it, check..

The use of Fash Trophys is controlled by Commanding Officers and was not done by everyone... use Red Army Gear if you can first.
