There is a possibility that I can do some jumps this summer.
I like to do that in style ofcourse................so any info is welcome on VDV equipment.
I looked through my books and on the net, but can't find that much.

ANY help is most welcome!

Regards

If I recall correctly, two choices:
A - one piece jump overall, khaki coloured, looks like a tank overall otherwise, worn with a leather or canvas flying helmet of highly simplified design
B - Day to day combat dress, worn with Air Force rather than Infantry collar tabs/ shoulder boards.

Sadly, quite dull compared to the nifty para uniforms of the other powers.

The coverall is always worn until the late 80's when a special field uniform was created for the VDV.

Its a safety thing btw, not a fashion one!

Guessed it would be, as a way of keeping everything that could snag a harness out of the way (similar in some respects to the British and German Jump Smocks). It just seems that not everyone discarded them on landing - the photos I have show a more or less equal mix of para in field uniform and para in overall.

Yes, exactly so Comrade!

You see Cold War photos the same AND quite ofen (post war) you see the VDV wearing the coveralls for parade use (complete with insignia and badges) - a nice beer tent look we like Cool

There are also winter versions of the coveralls too - they look like aircrew flight suits!

Thank you very much for your input!

Is it possible to see some of the pictures you've got?
I can't find anything in my books, must have the wrong ones.......

Best regards

I will try and dig some out... but most of my stuff on the VDV is after their reforming in the 60's...

The kit had changed slightly and the coveralls you will find for sale will be the 70's/80's pattern....

I've found this early war one, which shows the jump helmet quite well:
