If I were you I would take out that morgage on the tank, did the red army have motorbyke in the GPW, that would be a cheaper option

I had been looking at the bike and side-car option.
I looked at Urals (its quite legal).
But I need advice on what is worth having etc.
I do so wish I could get that T34 !!

Barry Lawrence is your man for Urals (sounds rude). But seriously, Barry has chapter and verse on the motorbike and sidecar thing.

The best option as regards a period combo is to buy a chiang yang from china.
Reasons: tooling was aquired off the soviets so it is a soviet copy of the bmw r71(aquired under Molotov) , which is slightly different from the r71. Cossacks and Urals underwent various changes to both engine and frame post war which make them ''different'' from the wartime version which the chinese aquired. You would have to get a 50's cossack to be anywhere near. Also cossaks are notorious for their build quality and crankshafts do fail on a bike this age. All the chinese ones being imported are of better quality and in nearly all respects a new bike. Spares are easy a cheap to obtain I bought a new petrol tank for £50 including shipping from China.
They come up on ebay quiet a bit under cj750 or chiang yang, or their are companies that import.

Hi Sarah, yes Barry L is here under the name "Boris":

I would agree with Martin from what I have heard about the bikes.

Cheers, Ade.

Here's my latest purchase. VW type 82E command car based on a 72 beetle note off road wheels and notek front and rear.
