Just found a rather nice website about Scouts of the Red Army and Soviet Army...

Certainly the first few I have looked at are stories from the Great Patriotic War and further down some stories from Afganistan.

Its in Russian, but have a go with the usual translation tools and you'll be fine.

Some cracking stories there!

The rest of the site looks quite interesting too!
