Soviet ammo tins

Postby Comrade Coffin on Tue Oct 16, 2007 2:20 pm

Does anyone know when the Warsaw pact coutries started using the big grey tins to store 7.62 by 54 R ammo? The tins are zinc plated & hold 200 rounds, and have the ammo type stenciled on the side in Roman numerals & Cryllic script.- the tins are about 350mm high, 175mm wide & 80mm deep. A few of us had a brief chat about them on the shooting day, but no-one was sure of their origins.

Most of the current Soviet ball ammo coming into the UK at the moment arrives in these boxes & it would be nice to get hold of them if we can use them.
Loosing your looks? Drink Vodka- it is much cheaper than Botox, & paralyses more muscles!
