I love this stuff, 'How to kill a Tiger', its like the advice given to tank crew in Normandy. "when faced with a Panther, all you have to do, is make sure your round bounces off the lower part of the gun mantlet, it will penetrate the driver's hatch and kill the driver rendering the Panther immobile". I like the phrasing 'all you have to do'.

Genosse, You still here?... I thought you were "Expended" in the last Purge....

You are 100% correct of course, I guess all Infantry Manuals of all Countries are worded like that when 80 kg Man has to knock heads with 45 Ton Mechanised Armoured Fighting Complex...

Almost funny

There are a similar set of instructions in the Russian Partisan's Companion (an excellent guide book on partisan activity published in 1941) which tells you how to attack a tank using rifles & hand tools. The basic instruction being to fire at the view slits to blind the crew, whilst the rest of the people swarm the vehicle & break into it.

On the theme of "all you have to do" : here is my contribution of "all you have to do is drill some holes,do some soldering and tap some threads"...
There should be a picture attached but if there isn`t its due to my lack of IT ability !!Image

Just think .. if I was married I would never be able to clamp a pillar drill next to the sink or even take cutting paste into the kitchen !!
This shot shows the nasty bit which is cutting the threads. |The hole is only 4mm deep and the point on the tap takes up most of that ! So you grind it off !!
The actual threaded part on the screws is only 5mm long.ImageImage

Nice work Bob.It will be good to have a variety of set ups in the unit to show the MOPs.

You should read a British Home Guard manual... some superbly unlikely ways of disabling even a Mk II fascist fighting vehicle... let alone some of later war monsters!

Mind you, I also have a similar manual for the training of the Cuban workers' militia from the 1980's. This too shows some suicidal attacks on tanks (which are shown as M60's with big white stars on them... I wonder who they mean?? ).

I know its probably defeatist, but when faced with enemy main battle tanks, as an infantryman with just a rifle, I think keep you bloody head down is the best bet!

I agree, in those circumstances, why cause any unnecessary animosity :)
